The manuscript explores how stable phenomena emerge from the dynamics of gradient and field — and what we are who perceive them. This site collects interactive exhibits, structural diagrams, and supplementary material that the printed page cannot fully carry.

About the project

Gradients All the Way Down is a work in progress: an inquiry into the nature of phenomena and consciousness that draws on Indian philosophical traditions, Western science and metaphysics, contemplative practice, and contemporary work in physics and neuroscience. Its central proposal is that the world we encounter is not made of self-existing things but of stable patterns emerging from the operation of localization within a continuous field. Consciousness is one such pattern — the capacity to respond to gradient differentials arising from disrupted entropic homeostasis.

This site exists alongside the manuscript. Some of what it contains is meant to enact what the prose can only describe — the kind of structural understanding that lands more clearly through interaction than through reading. The companion site grows as the manuscript develops.

Exhibits

Indian Philosophical Lineage →

An interactive map of the Vedic, Buddhist, and contemporary streams of Indian philosophical thought, from the Rigveda through Śaṅkara and beyond. Hover over any figure or text for a substantive overview including the framework's relationship to that position.

Western Philosophical and Christian Mystical Lineage →

An interactive map of the Greek/Classical, Christian Mystical Theological, and Modern Philosophical streams of Western intellectual development, from the Pre-Socratics through Whitehead and Bohm. Includes substantive coverage of Eckhart, Cusa, and the apophatic Christian mystical tradition that the framework engages most directly.

The Tetractys Structure coming

Visual exploration of the manuscript's organizing architecture: Monad / Dyad / Triad / Tetrad and the logical descent through them.

Chladni Plate Demonstration coming

An interactive demonstration of how standing-wave patterns emerge on a vibrating plate when frequency, tension, and input geometry interact — the master image the framework returns to throughout.

Gradient Ontology vs. Other Traditions coming

Side-by-side comparison tables showing where the framework converges with and diverges from Madhyamaka Buddhism, Advaita Vedanta, and the philosophical interpretation of quantum mechanics.

About this site

Built incrementally as the manuscript progresses. New exhibits and chapter companions are added as the work develops. The site is intended for readers willing to sit with substantive material — nothing here is designed for skimming.
